Bonaventure House opened its doors in March of 1989, serving as a facility that was neither hospital
nor hospice: it was a home for people with AIDS and a resource center that provided counseling and an
array of supportive services. Bonaventure House now offers supportive housing programs and focuses
on transforming the lives of our residents by helping them transition to independent living. Programs
managed here are our Transitional Living Program, Transitional to Permanent Housing Program and
Samaritan Housing.

Modeled after Bonaventure House, The Harbor opened its doors in 1998 as a transitional living facility
in Waukegan, IL. With eight beds, The Harbor provides housing, supportive services and spiritual care,
helping individuals reach independent living.

This is ABAM's first facility on the South Side of Chicago and will provide supportive permanent housing for men and women with disabilities. The South Side facility has 23 studio apartments, common meeting spaces, offices for counseling and support staff, and laundry facilities.
